Rogue Plug-in Hybrid Preview
Nissan USA followers may be aware that the company has yet to release a plug-in hybrid model – but that is about to change. The 2026 Rogue Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) will roll in soon to claim that distinction. Since the conventional Rogue is the brand’s strongest seller, this more eco-friendly alternative is expected to do well. Aside from its ability to supply 38 miles of all-electric driving before switching to regular gas-electric hybrid operation, its total system output of 248 horsepower will make it the highest-powered vehicle ever to wear the Rogue badge.
All-wheel drive will come standard, and the Rogue PHEV should hit 60 mph from a standstill in just under 7 seconds. Nissan says it will be a tad larger than the strictly-gas Rogue, with a seven-passenger capacity over three rows. A more futuristic style will also distinguish it from the regular Rogue that we know and love.

Trims and Mechanical Specs
Nissan will keep the Rogue PHEV’s lineup simple, with a pair of trims: the base SL and the upscale Platinum. The powertrain will be the same for both: a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine combining with two electric motors to make 248 horsepower and 332 lb.-ft. of torque. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) will round out the big picture mechanically. This debuting model’s estimated fuel economy will be 25 mpg in city driving and 27 mpg on the highway. As we mentioned above, its estimated all-electric driving range will be 38 miles.
According to Nissan, the 20 kWh lithium-ion hybrid battery will take about 7.5 hours to become completely juiced using a Level 2/240-volt charger. A properly equipped Rogue Plug-in Hybrid should be able to tow as much as 1,500 pounds. Look for the cargo space to be 12.8 cubic feet behind the third row, with potentially 64.7 cubic feet available if the second and third rows are unoccupied and folded flat.
Standard Equipment
With just two trims in the lineup, both will come nicely equipped. The SL will have leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, a power liftgate, wireless device charging, LED exterior lighting, an eight-way power driver's seat with lumbar controls, a head-up display, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Nissan also plans to give this trim proximity keyless entry, push-button start, a 12.3-inch driver information display, second-row HVAC vents, sun visors with illuminated vanity mirrors, heated power side mirrors with integrated LED turn indicators, four USB ports, and 20-inch aluminum wheels.
The Platinum will get more, of course, since it’s the higher trim. Look for a power panoramic moonroof, genuine leather upholstery, heated second-row seats, three automatic climate control zones, a driver's-side memory, an eight-way power front passenger seat with lumbar controls and memory, rooftop rails, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, interior LED accent lighting, and a cover for the cargo area.
Driver-Assist Technology
Both Rogue Plug-in Hybrid will have Nissan Safety Shield 360 installed. Its components will include a driver alertness monitor, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, predictive forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane change assist, blind-spot assist and intervention, rear cross-traffic alert, rear automatic braking, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control. ProPILOT Assist hands-on driver support will be standard as well, along with a surround-view monitor, rear door alert, and front and rear parking sensors. Anti-lock brakes, airbags, stability control, traction control, and a rearview monitor will be round out the safety features.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The infotainment system in the Rogue Plug-in Hybrid will be built around a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, built-in GPS navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluetooth. For audio, the SL will get a six-speaker unbranded system while the Platinum upgrades to a Bose unit with nine speakers. Both trims will also come with access to NissanConnect services.
