Nissan Titan vs Titan XD for Sale in Warwick, RI
The 2020 Titan and Titan XD are set to arrive on dealer lots soon. This model year represents a mid-cycle refresh for Nissan’s full-sized truck, resulting in more horsepower and torque, an updated exterior (including new wheel designs) and a brand-new transmission, among other improvements. The 2020 Nissan Titan XD also gets four new paint colors: Baja Storm, Red Alert, Cardinal Red Metallic, and Super Black. All Titan models now come with Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 technology, which is a package of driver-assist technology that helps to create a safer on-road experience. Overall, both the Titan and Titan XD are excellent choices in the half-ton pickup segment.
Titan vs. Titan XD
The Nissan Titan is quite capable as full-sized pickups go, but the heavy-duty Titan XD is built to handle the truly serious tasks. After all, the XD is larger (15 inches longer and 3 inches taller) and more powerful. Nissan offers the combination of an extended cab with a 6.5-foot bed or a full crew cab with a 5.5-foot bed. The crew cab version will be eligible for the optional panoramic moonroof. Although the exact figures have not been released by Nissan yet, the Titan XD is also expected to handle 1,700 pounds more towing capacity and 900 more pounds of payload than the smaller Titan.
Mechanical Features and Fuel Economy
As a departure from prior model years, for 2020 there will be just one engine offered for these trucks: a powerful retuned Titan Endurance 5.6-liter V8 that puts out 400 horsepower and 413 lb.-ft. of torque. All Titans also come standard with an all-new 9-speed automatic transmission with optimized gear ratios that allow for more fluid shifting, better fuel efficiency, and greater acceleration while towing. This 9-speed automatic transmission replaces the 7-speed transmission of 2019. The Titan also offers some helpful towing aids, such as trailer sway control, an integrated trailer brake controller, and even a rearview monitor with trailer guides.
Safety and Technology
The regular Titan and Titan XD share similar standard equipment, such as an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen (a 9-inch upgrade is also offered), Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Nissan Intelligent Mobility is changing the game, as this integrated command center allows you to control your Titan like never before. Voice connected services and smartphone integration allow you to remotely start and stop the engine, create a Wi-Fi hotspot, and even speak to a live person 24/7 for concierge services such as travel recommendations, travel, and roadside assistance.
Nissan’s 2020 improvements for its full-sized trucks include making its Safety Shield 360 technology standard on all Titans and Titan XDs. This innovative package of advanced safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, rear automated emergency braking, and automatic high beams. It’s also worth noting that the Titan XD’s standard rear automatic braking is a class-exclusive feature. Other available safety options include adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera.
