Trims, Powertrain, and Performance

Nissan packages the front-wheel-drive 2025 LEAF as two trim levels: the S and SV Plus. The S comes with a 40-kWh battery powering a 110-kW electric motor that produces 147 hp and 236 lb.-ft. of torque. The SV Plus earns its name mainly with a powertrain upgrade to a 60-kWh battery and a more robust 160-kW motor generating 214 hp and 250 lb.-ft. of torque.

Range and Charging

According to the official EPA estimates, the S provides a driving range of 150 miles and an overall efficiency rating of 123 MPGe in the city and 99 MPGe on the highway. With its higher-capacity battery, the SV Plus is good for 215 miles of range, or 121 MPGe city/98 MPGe highway. Both trims use regenerative braking to help recharge the battery by capturing increments of the kinetic energy formed as the vehicle slows and stops.

Using a 50-kW DC fast charger, the S can reach an 80 percent charge in approximately 40 minutes, while the SV Plus takes about 45 minutes. At home with a 240V outlet, a full charge takes around 8 hours for the S and 11 hours for the SV Plus.

Equipment by Trim

The S is set up for success with proximity keyless entry, cloth upholstery, push-button ignition, single-zone automatic climate control, a 7-inch multi-function information display, four USB ports, manually adjustable front seats, a 60/40-split folding rear seatback, automatic halogen headlights, power-adjustable side mirrors, and 16-inch steel wheels with covers. It also gets an infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, voice recognition, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, and a four-speaker audio system.

The SV Plus rises higher with heated front seats, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated side mirrors, LED headlights, fog lights, and 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. On the infotainment category, it adds NissanConnect remote vehicle services and an additional pair of speakers (for a total of six).

Advanced Safety Technology

The 2025 LEAF comes with the Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite, which groups forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, intelligent lane intervention, rear parking sensors with reverse automatic braking, and automatic high beams. Beyond that, the SV Plus gets adaptive cruise control with ProPilot Assist (Nissan’s semi-autonomous driving system), a surround-view camera, and driver attention monitoring.
