Overview

When you’re in the market for a pickup truck, one of the first things you need to figure out is how much capability you’ll need. The 2022 Nissan Titan XD makes the decision easy with more abilities than a standard truck but in a more manageable package than a super heavy-duty pickup. It sits ideally between the two options that many truck buyers face and leads its class with a 400 horsepower V8. Plus, it’s covered by the best truck warranty (5 years/100,000 miles) and has the most standard driver-assist technologies in its segment. Extras like 14-inch brakes and a rear differential add to the Titan XD’s credentials.

This overview discusses just the 2022 Nissan Titan XD; the Nissan Titan is covered on its own page.

Trims and Powertrain

The Titan XD is available in four trims: S, SV, Pro-4X, and Platinum Reserve. They all come in the same configuration: a crew cab body with a 6.5-foot cargo bed. Their 5.6-liter V8 engine makes 400 horsepower and 413 lb.-ft. of torque. Four-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission are standard, as well. The ’22 Titan XD offers a maximum payload capacity of 2,430 pounds or a peak trailer rating of 11,060 pounds (with the gooseneck hitch). It’s all possible thanks not just because of the tough V8 but also the larger and longer frame, which has been built to commercial vehicle standards.

Standard Equipment and Optional Packages

The Titan XD S is ready to work with a spray-in bed liner, a lockable tailgate, remote keyless entry with push-button start, a 7-inch driver information display, 17-inch steel wheels, a sliding rear window, a lower radiator skid plate, and trailer sway control with a receiving hitch. It seats six with stain-resistant upholstery, or the 60/40-split rear bench can be folded flat to accommodate more cargo instead.

The SV is set up for even more rugged duties with additional skid plates, front tow hooks, heated power side mirrors that are sized for towing, and a trailer brake controller and light check. It also has LED taillights and Intelligent Cruise Control and is eligible for a pair of optional packages. The SV Convenience Package adds heated front captain’s chairs (for five-passenger seating) with a configurable console between them, an eight-way power driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start, a gooseneck trailer hitch, side steps, proximity keyless entry, interior mood lighting, a power-sliding rear window with defroster, front and rear parking sensors, 20-inch alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, rear air vents, traffic sign recognition technology, and additional infotainment features. The SV Utility Package will equip this trim with automatic headlights, a cargo-management system with bed lighting, rear bumper steps, a lockable rear seat cargo organizer, rain-sensing wipers, a power locking tailgate, and a bed-mounted 120-volt outlet.

The Pro-4X includes most of the features of the SV with the Convenience and Utility Packages (minus the heated front seats, remote start, gooseneck hitch, and side steps) plus Bilstein shock absorbers, all-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels, LED headlights and fog lights, an electronic locking rear differential, hill descent control, upgraded cloth upholstery, and a transfer case skid plate. Buyers can add the Pro-4X Convenience Package for leather-trimmed seating, a heated steering wheel with power adjustments, a driver’s memory system, remote start, a four-way power front passenger’s seat, heated front and outboard rear seats, auto-dimming side mirrors, and the gooseneck hitch. The Premium Package supplies a dual-panel panoramic moonroof, heated and cooled front seats, a surround-view monitor, and an in-bed storage box system.

At the top, the Platinum Reserve brings together the features of the loaded SV and the PRO-4X with the Premium Package (less the off-road upgrades) as standard equipment. This ultimate Titan XD also gets premium leather seating, unique exterior accents, wood interior trim, chrome-accented running boards, and trim-specific 20-inch wheels. A panoramic moonroof is optional, as is the Utility Package with a remote-locking tailgate, an in-bed storage box system, and rear bumper steps.

Advanced Driver Aids

Every 2022 Titan XD comes with the Nissan Safety Shield 360 system (forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, rear sonar, lane departure warning, Intelligent Driver Alertness, reverse automatic braking, and automatic high beams. Intelligent Cruise Control is added at the SV level, and traffic sign recognition and front and rear sonar come on the two highest trims. A driver alert monitor is available on the PRO-4X and standard on the Platinum Reserve.

Infotainment and Connectivity

Along with the Titan XD’s over-the-top capabilities is a sophisticated collection of infotainment technology for entertainment, convenience, and connectivity. The S and SV have an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, a six-speaker sound system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and dual USB ports. The SV with the Convenience Package, Pro-4X, and Platinum Reserve are upgraded to a 9-inch touchscreen with navigation, SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link, and access to NissanConnect telematics services. The top two trims also get a Fender audio system with 12 speakers.
