2022 Nissan Maxima for Sale in Warwick, RI

The Maxima has enjoyed status as Nissan’s flagship sedan for decades, going back to the early 1980s, when it was known as the Datsun Maxima. The full-sized four-door has always represented style, performance, and high comfort, but times are changing. As newer vehicle categories like EVs and crossovers increase their domination over the market, traditional sedans are less popular. Like other automakers, Nissan has responded in earnest to drivers’ preferences, and as such this eighth generation of the Maxima will be its last: 2022 will be its last model year. In the meantime, a few stylistic and equipment updates have been made since its last redesign in 2015, and for model year 2022, it’s now eligible for heated rear outboard seats.

Trims and Powertrain

The 2022 Nissan Maxima is a full-sized sedan that’s available in SV, SR, and Platinum trim levels. All are whisked into action by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 300 hp and 261 lb.-ft. of torque. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) directs power to the front-wheel drivetrain. Despite the ’22 Maxima’s clear brawn, it’s able to achieve an EPA-estimated 20 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, making it a venerable commuter car.

Given that the Maxima is an upscale sedan, it’s not surprising that the base SV is packed with nice standard features. These include LED headlights, heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, Nissan Intelligent Key (keyless entry that doesn’t require the fob to be in your hand), push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a 7-inch multi-information display, power-adjustable and heated front seats, genuine leather (for the seats, steering wheel, and shift knob), two USB ports (one USB-A and the other USB-C), and a 60/40-split folding rear seatback. The SV’s multimedia setup consists of an 8-inch touchscreen with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, SiriusXM satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a sound system with eight speakers.

In addition to all that, the SV gets a full roster of active safety technologies courtesy of Nissan Safety Shield 360: forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, driver attention warning, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, rear parking sensors, and reverse automatic braking.

The brazen SR raises both performance and attitude with a sport-tuned suspension (retuned dampers, stiffer springs, and a larger front stabilizer bar), LED fog lights, black exterior accents, a panoramic sunroof, and a spoiler. It also gets deluxe exterior mirrors that are equipped with reverse gear tilt-down, position memory, and driver’s-side auto-dimming. The SR’s interior offers a plush experience with ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, premium leather upholstery, a HomeLink universal garage door opener, adjustable ambient interior lighting, a driver’s seat with position memory and a thigh extender, power height adjustments for the front passenger’s seat, dark chrome interior trim, and aluminum sport pedals. Not only that, but the SR also gets noise cancellation/enhancing tech, an additional USB-A and USB-C port, and a velvety smooth Bose audio system with 11 speakers. This trim’s safety suite is sweetened with lane keep assist, a surround-view camera system, and front parking sensors.

The Platinum goes back to the conventional Maxima treatment, dropping the SR’s black exterior accents, sport-tuned suspension, aluminum sport pedals, and noise enhancing tech. But it gains its own array of desirable features: a power tilt-and-telescopic steering column with position memory, rain-sensing wipers, a power rear window sunshade, heated rear outboard seats, and wood interior trim.
