Trims, Powertrains, and Performance

The base-level S has been eliminated from the Armada’s trim roster for this new model year, leaving the well-equipped SV, SL, Midnight Edition, and Platinum. Their powertrain pairs a 5.6-liter V8 engine (400 hp and 413 lb.-ft. of torque) with a seven-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but most folks in New England will opt for the available four-wheel drive with its two-speed transfer case. As mentioned, the towing limit for the 2024 Armada is 8,500 pounds. This large SUV’s fuel economy is as expected, with RWD versions achieving 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway, as estimated by the EPA. With 4WD, this changes to 13 city/18 highway.

Standard Features

The SV now kicks off the Armada lineup with sought-after amenities such as wireless phone charging, rooftop rails, remote start, proximity keyless entry, simulated leather upholstery, heated power front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, automatic on/off headlights (LED), dual-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents, three 12V power outlets, four USB ports (two Type-A and two Type-C), LED fog lights, power-folding heated side-view mirrors with built-in turn indicators (LED), a Class IV tow hitch receiver, push-button ignition, a leather-wrapped power tilt/telescopic steering wheel, a second-row bench seat, and an underfloor storage compartment in the cargo area.

The SL gets genuine leather for its first- and second-row seats, along with a heated steering wheel, a power liftgate, auto-dimming side mirrors with puddle lights, a 120V power outlet, position memory (driver’s seat, side mirrors, and steering wheel), wood interior trim, and a moonroof. The Midnight Edition is equipped similarly to the SL but with black interior and exterior accents, middle-row captain’s chairs (this reduces seating to seven), and a second-row center console with cup holders and a padded armrest. The Platinum receives quilted leather upholstery (first and second rows), a power-folding third row, ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats (outboard), a windshield wiper de-icer, rain-sensing wipers, illuminated cup holders, and maple-wood interior trim. It’s set up with a middle-row bench seat by default, but there’s an option to swap in the pair of captain’s chairs with a center console.

Safety Tech

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard issue in the 2024 Armada. This state-of-the-art technology bundle consists of automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, a driver alertness monitor, lane departure warning, intelligent lane intervention, intelligent forward collision warning, blind spot warning with intelligent blind-spot intervention, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and reverse automatic braking. Since this vehicle is likely to be used for towing, Nissan includes standard trailer sway control and a trailer brake controller. A surround-view camera comes with all but the SV. The Platinum is fully loaded, getting traffic sign recognition, intelligent backup intervention, and an intelligent rearview mirror, which shows the rear camera’s view to expand the driver’s field of vision.

Infotainment and Connectivity

As we mentioned in the introduction, the standard size of the infotainment touchscreen is 12.3 inches. The system’s components are Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth (for hands-free phone and audio streaming), navigation, voice recognition, Amazon Alexa, a Wi-Fi hotspot, HD Radio, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The SV’s basic sound system has six speakers, while the SL and higher spoil their occupants with a 13-speaker Bose sound system.
