Trims and Mechanical Specs

Nissan presents five varied trim levels for the 2024 Altima: S, SV, SR, SL, and SR VC-Turbo. The first four have a powertrain consisting of a 188-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The SV, SR, and SL are eligible for Nissan’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, but a front-wheel drivetrain is otherwise standard. The SR VC-Turbo gets a power upgrade to a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that puts out 248 hp and 273 lb.-ft. of torque. It pairs with the same CVT.

The EPA’s official fuel economy estimates state that the S and SV return 27 miles per gallon in city driving and 39 mpg on the highway, while the SR and SL achieve 27 city/37 highway. The SR VC-Turbo’s higher output dips its fuel economy to 25 city/34 highway. When the SV, SR, and SL are equipped with the optional AWD, they’ll return 26 mpg city and 36 mpg highway.

Standard and Available Features

The Altima S is more than your average base trim, as it gets remote start, remote keyless entry, and automatic LED headlights. It also has active grille shutters, power exterior mirrors, push-button ignition, 16-inch steel wheels, and a 60/40-split folding rear seatback. The SV takes things higher with proximity keyless entry, a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, a power-adjustable seat for the driver, wood interior trim, and four USB ports (two Type-A and two Type-C). Among this trim’s potential options are heated front seats, wireless smartphone charging, a moonroof, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.

The SR gets the leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob as standard features along with leather-upholstered sport seats and a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat. The rest of the items mentioned as optional on the SV are also available for this trim. The SL gets every feature listed as optional on the lower trims, along with a heated steering wheel, leather seats (not the sport style), and dual-zone automatic climate control. The SR VC-Turbo is equipped like the base-engine SR; it also gets active noise cancellation technology and its namesake turbocharged engine.

Active Safety Features

All 2024 Altima trims receive the excellent Nissan Safety Shield 360 driver-assist technology grouping. It contains a driver attention monitor, rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with automatic high beams, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, and reverse automatic braking. ProPilot Assist adaptive cruise control, intelligent lane intervention, and traffic sign recognition are included on the SL and SR VC-Turbo and optional for the SV. The SL and SR VC-Turbo also receive an Around-View Monitor.

Staying Entertained and Connected

The base infotainment array in the S trim consists of a 7-inch touchscreen, voice recognition, Bluetooth, and a six-speaker audio system. The SV and SR go a tad larger with an 8-inch touchscreen and add Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Buyers who order either of those trims can elect to upgrade to the infotainment version that the SL and SR VC-Turbo get as standard equipment: it has a 12.3-inch touchscreen, advanced voice recognition, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, navigation, Amazon Alexa, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. A Bose audio system with nine speakers is the domain of the SL and SR VC-Turbo. As we mentioned above, a 3-year trial subscription to NissanConnect remote vehicle services comes with every ’24 Altima.
