The three trim levels of the front-wheel-drive 2023 Nissan Kicks are S, SV, and SR. They all get the same 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 122 horsepower and 114 lb.-ft. of torque and is connected to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). EPA-estimated fuel economy for the Kicks is 31 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway.
The S trim starts things off with halogen headlights (automatic on/off), power exterior mirrors, a six-way adjustable driver’s seat with height control, push-button ignition, remote keyless entry, and a tilt-and-telescopic steering column. This version of the Kicks also gets cruise control, a 60/40-split folding rear seat, cloth upholstery, 16-inch steel wheels with covers, and Nissan Safety Shield 360 (a grouping of advanced safety technologies, which are described below). The SV layers in more equipment, such as remote start, a 7-inch driver information display, proximity keyless entry, heated power side mirrors, roof rails, rear-seat vents, a front-seat center storage console, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Coming in at the top of the Kicks range is the SR, which gets upscale touches like LED headlights and fog lights, automatic temperature control, upgraded remote start (with climate control), a trim-specific grille, exclusive exterior accents, and black roof rails. Nissan also gives the SR trim black-painted heated power side mirrors with integrated turn-signal indicators, a rear roof spoiler, sport cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a Prima-Tex trimmed dashboard. The optional SR Premium Package adds a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, Prima-Tex upholstery, a cargo cover, a vehicle security system, and infotainment upgrades (see the final section for more information).
Every Kicks is equipped with Nissan Safety Shield 360, a collection of advanced driver aids. This technology includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, rear automatic braking, and rear parking sensors. A rearview monitor is standard on the S and SV, but the SR gets an upgrade to a surround-view monitor. The SV and SR have adaptive cruise control and a driver alertness monitor. The other standard safety systems include multiple airbags (front and rear), vehicle dynamic control (for improved traction and braking support), and anti-lock brakes.
A 7-inch touchscreen controls the infotainment system in the Kicks S, while the SV and SR get an 8-inch unit. The supporting features include a six-speaker sound system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and multiple USB ports. SiriusXM satellite radio comes with the SV and SR. The SR Premium Package will improve the setup with an eight-speaker Bose sound system that includes headrest speakers for the driver. The available SR Technology Package adds firmware over-the-air updates and access to a Wi-Fi hotspot and NissanConnect Services.
